Victoria

Victoria, Australia is home to an incredibly diverse range of geography: from stunning beaches, to sweeping rural landscapes, soaring alpine regions and untouched native forests.

Victoria has a mainly temperate climate, with areas of higher rainfall in the north east, lower rainfall in the north west and cooler winter temperatures in the Alpine region and in some inland areas.

Victoria is located in the south-eastern corner of Australia.  It is around the same size as the British Isles. 

Victoria is home to over five million people, a quarter of Australia’s population. It has a strong economy, and provides excellent employment and business  opportunities and benefits that are highly appealing to migrants from all nations.  More than 70 per cent of Victorians live in Melbourne, the State’s capital city.

Melbourne, the capital city, is home to 3.6 million people. It is known as Australia’s cultural capital for the arts, fashion, food, comedy and music festivals. Ethnic precincts dotted throughout the city and inner suburbs include Chinatown in Little Bourke Street, a Greek precinct in Lonsdale Street; as well as Lygon Street in Carlton with its Italian influence.

Victoria Street in Richmond is lined with Vietnamese restaurants and shops and Carlisle Street in St Kilda, is rich in Jewish culture. The city offers something for everyone.

Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD) is situated on the Yarra River, minutes from Port Phillip Bay. The suburbs stretch around the bay to the west and south east, while the Dandenong Ranges border the city’s east.
